A GLORIOUS HISTORY OF TAJPUR VILLAGE.
In the nationwide revolution of 1857 against the british, gujarat has its own glorious history to narrate.
Two brave fighters of TAJPUR village near ahmedabad, RATNAJI & RANGAJI THAKORE, laid their lives for the freedom of our motherland from the british.
They were in the british battalion of soldiers at shahibag cantonment at ahmedabad.
When the 1857 revolution started, these two brave indian soldiers-RATNAJI & RANGAJI lead the mutiny & escaped with firearms from the army.
They were chased by british battalion lead from two sides by captain palm & captain tailor.
The ultimate showdown b/w escaped seven soldiers & british army took place in the outskirts of TAJPUR village & both shri RATNAJI & RANGAJI -the residents of the TAJPUR village, laid their lives fighting against the british.
They were forgoten in the passing time, untill lok sahityakar purshottam solanki,head of BHOJE Vidgyabhavan smt.bharatiben shelat, shri aashutosh bhatt & shri ashok thakore of khadia itihas samiti & popular leader shri ashok bhatt found out the valiant contribution of these great freedom fighters & with commendable research work their murals were dug out from the village pond & restored at prominent place in the year 2001.
Since then, khadia itihas samiti with the support of local administration & the proud residents of TAJPUR village celebrates the 9th august as the martyr day & day of remembrance of these great freedom fighters.
Late shri ashok bhatt made it the annual day of observance for shri RATNAJI & RANGAJI on 9th july at TAJPUR village.
